The Dao of Poo

The phases of poo.  It is so interesting that we look forward and count the hours in anticipation of the  next arrival of the poo.  We were worried because she hadn't had a movement in almost 48 hours.  I had the pediatrician on speed dial ready to go.  I was constantly checking the little yellow line on the diaper to see if it had turned blue.  Every false toot was greeted with nervous joy.  And then finally... after almost 30 heavy diapers laden only with pee, in the middle of the night, the pee-only diaper was coming off and the flood gates finally opened and gleefully the changing table was covered with green oobleck.  At one o'clock in the morning, a day late, but as if on cue.  That's my time, dad, she said with a gurgle, No worries.  Oddly, I smiled with joy as I cleaned up spurt after spurt.

And the color has shifted once again... we are onto phase 3.   We went from black tar, to yellow, to pea green.   And I still could eat pea soup today if I had to.  It's remarkable how we can look forward and study this poo, the Dao of Poo, the Way and it's Power.   Laotzu once said that we must learn from nature, and study nature to become one with the way, or the dao.  I would say that I've learned to be patient, and trust that things will come in their own time.  I've learned to see poo in a different light.  And welcome that special time when I can clean up her mess.  Just her and me, and about a dozen wipes.
