The Dao of Poo

The phases of poo.  It is so interesting that we look forward and count the hours in anticipation of the  next arrival of the poo.  We were worried because she hadn't had a movement in almost 48 hours.  I had the pediatrician on speed dial ready to go.  I was constantly checking the little yellow line on the diaper to see if it had turned blue.  Every false toot was greeted with nervous joy.  And then finally... after almost 30 heavy diapers laden only with pee, in the middle of the night, the pee-only diaper was coming off and the flood gates finally opened and gleefully the changing table was covered with green oobleck.  At one o'clock in the morning, a day late, but as if on cue.  That's my time, dad, she said with a gurgle, No worries.  Oddly, I smiled with joy as I cleaned up spurt after spurt.

And the color has shifted once again... we are onto phase 3.   We went from black tar, to yellow, to pea green.   And I still could eat pea soup today if I had to.  It's remarkable how we can look forward and study this poo, the Dao of Poo, the Way and it's Power.   Laotzu once said that we must learn from nature, and study nature to become one with the way, or the dao.  I would say that I've learned to be patient, and trust that things will come in their own time.  I've learned to see poo in a different light.  And welcome that special time when I can clean up her mess.  Just her and me, and about a dozen wipes.

My rebellious teenager

Everly likes to stay awake at night just when it is daddy's shift.  Thanks babe. When I confronted her about her behavior she gave daddy the middle finger.   When I told her she was grounded she fell asleep.

Everly's First Walk

So it's Everly's first walk... but she's not walking.  Sorry for any confusion!    She's advanced but not that advanced.  Well I'm exhausted and back to work.  And Everly is keeping us up at night.  Kait and Barb went for a walk today to try and give her fresh air and wake her up so she'd sleep soundly at night.  It hasn't worked so far!  But thanks for trying! :-)

Blow out Alert!!  Everly seems to only want to go woo woo like once a day.  So sure enough at midnight she filled her diaper like a cup of maxwell house to the brim.  I mean she seems to like to go just as I open up the treasure chest and gold bullion pours fourth with a sputtering sound.  She is not fool.  Who would want to go when you have a diaper on?  I mean really.  What a bad idea.

Shes gonna be Po-oh-pu-lar

So Everly is bringing family and social love into the house!  Family and friends are coming by to visit the chosen one... And she does have this really sweet angel pose. I've got to find that picture.    This has been an awesome for week home and our house feels like grand central station!   So thank you to everyone who made the drive, and brought her gifts.  It feels great to be warmed by your presence. Here are some special shots of our best buddies paying our little or a visit.  She's truly worth a trip.  As I like to say... She's so darn cute that even her poo smells good!

A week of Firsts!

So this week is a week of firsts...  firsts for Everly of course, but also a lot of firsts for "Mom and Dad" meaning,  kiatlin and I ... this is also a first.

Everly's First Smile... that seemed to be not gas nor muscle reflex

Everly First TV program... she got distracted and started drooling like her dad

Everly's First Poop... her first Blowout... her first accident while taking a bath she peed on the way to the tub and pooed on the way away from the tub.

Everly's First road trip to Plymouth, and to the doctors.

Everly's first kiss from stanley.

Everly's first night at home... with dad and mom checking on her every ten minutes!

Dad's first run to CVS at midnight to get more formula!

Everly has filled the diaper genie twice and she's only a newborn!

Dad had to run out to babies R US on teh first day home to buy clothes taht fit!  She doesn't fit into newborn stuff... oly 0-3 or 3 months.   I was frantic in teh store asking employees to help.  Sadly they don't make button up shirts for 3 month olds

This was a week of Firsts... and every day is a miracle.  I want her to grow up and learn the difference between day and night... but I also want her to stay tiny for ever.  I will post pictures to illustrate many of these "firsts" later on tonight.

Everly's First SMILE!!  i swear she is smiling at me

She does this awesome thing with her toes!  Only babies can do it!  Try it!

Ok.. so she is just like her dad.  Addicted to her FIRST tv show!  Can you say zombie trance?

Ev's FIRST road trip!  You know she hates the car seat but she loves the car... it puts her to sleep, just like dad.

The FIRST midnight run to CVS for baby formula and prune juice. :-)

Nov 4th Let the good times roll

Well, the past week has been nothing less than an extraordinary miracle.  The birth story with water breaking at school is a remarkable one.. that only Kaitlin can tell so perfectly well.   Every Roosevelt Mills was born on November 4, 2013 at 8:17pm.  This was just late enough for us to get an extra night in the hospital.  We were there from Monday to Thursday.  We had the most wonderful nurses, Melissa in the delivery room, and Kathleen in the recovery room.   Everyone came to visit this week!  Chris and Mom drove up the morning Kait went into labor, and Ben and Marika Luke Zach and Arya drove up from New York to meet Everly in the Hospital.   Ron and Barb, Shev Erika and Micah all made it to the delivery room.  And family friends came by over the next few days.  Kaitlin is a hero for pushing out such a large baby with ease, and she is even more of a hero for figuring out how to feed out new and hungry little one!  Everly is ever hungry. :-)  And she makes us ever happy.

When will the Gread Pumpkin arrive?

Oct 31st
Halloween has arrived... but we are still waiting for our GREAT PUMPKIN?  :-)  Linus would be waiting in the pumpkin patch for the little one to come, but we have to go to work.  Kait has a doctor's appointment today at 2pm so I will get out of work early to come check out the ultrasound.

Also today is Movember... which means I will shave my beard and grow a mustache to fight prostate cancer.  If you'd like to donate to our team, check us out at movember.com or on facebook.   We will post pictures of the silly stache.   Speaking of posting pictures, Check out the pumpkin patch.  Waiting for a little one to come into the world.

Rest up little one, and come out when you are ready.

3 Centimeters and 3 days to go!

October 25th, 2013
First Entry  October 25, 2013

When Stanley was born the bruins won the Stanley cup.... And when muffy is born maybe the Red Sox will win the word series.  Today is the 25th of October and she's due on the 29th!  Tuesday!
The name is secret so everyone has nicknames such as muffy and kabe!
Shev has sent Micah to spy to find out your name!   And Shev has searched your house looking for the letters.  She is so sneaky!

So here are some things that you might like to know little one.  Mommy painted her toenails lavender in honor of your arrival.   Luke and Zack have tons of questions.  Here are some quotes!
Zack wants to bring the baby to harvest festival.. "Because the baby wants to ride a pony!"
Luke wants to know "how is the baby is eating without teeth?"
"Why are Papa and gram are going to visit the new baby?"
Luke said that "When aunt Kait eats the food it goes down to the baby's tummy."
On October 19th the boys wanted the baby to arrive because they are willing to help.

So Mom and Dad... Grammy Mills and Papa Mills are here to see my show, and waiting for you to come into this world.  We can't wait.  So we started this blog to let you know what you were "really" like as a child.  And we can remember these moments with you.

Love,  Kabe, Dad and Mom to be

Oct 30th!  RED SOX WIN THE WORLD SERIES!  perhaps we should name you big pappi... or napoli, or
victorino?
