Spring at last!

Well.  Along with the seasonal running rivers and creeks came streams of buggers and eye goop.  We had our first antibiotic and it tastes like bubble gum and she takes ml a day and her eyes have cleared up. Evy started speaking again this week and has chosen dada to mean everything it seems. It's usually a "I'm hapoy" phrase!

Evy also turned six months this week.   She will start solid good next week!  She is pumped.  Although I'm not looking forward to the cleanup.

Secretly hoping

So I admit there are times when I secretly hope evy starts crying... So I can get up, go to the rescue, and comfort her in the middle of the night.  So the real question is, whom is comforting whom? ;)

Winter is here!

Evy is 3 months old and hopefully will be out of her harness tomorrow!   Kait and I have been sick for a couple weeks and Evy is doing a great job fighting off the sickness. We all took a snow day on Wednesday, good thing, because it took me several attempts ti shovel us out!   Speaking of hand eye coordination,  this has been a great week for Evy.  She is holding onto her ball and grabbing a few things here and there like kaits hair.  She noticed her feet for the first time yesterday, and she pulls herself up to try and sit on her own! shes got quite the abs!

First Laugh

"Give me five evy... "  "Ha ha ha ha ha"
Last night we put Evy to Bed on Jan 15th and she gave us the usual conversation as we changed her... Hellooooo... I LOb YUuuuu... and of course EVehleeee.   NOw I konw all you nay sayers think a 2 month old can't talk, but I can prove you wrong... just  as soon as evy agrees to be video taped.  She has a fascination with the iphone.  Every-time I hold it up to take a video she gets distracted.   So it will be a a little bit wonderful when I finally get that clip that will make us a cool million and get us on Ellen!  Amazing talking baby!  She says five words, and laughs on command!   She sleeps 9 hours a night.  It's a miracle baby!!  Lo!

Anyway, this blog entry cannot capture the joys of the past month... but all I know is that she is growing so fast that she is in 6 months clothes... and we'll ahve to box up all the litlt outfits she never got to wear.  Alas.. youth is fleeting.
Give me a high five evy!  Ha ha ha ha.  Her tummy shook and she cackled with joy.  It was such an awkward laugh, but amazing for her first one.
Thanks for giving us a laughter high... it's Friday.  I really needed it.

First Night in the Nursery

Last night, Jan 5th, 2014 was the first night in the nursery for little Evy Roo.  She was in her rock and play in front of the humidifier.  We slept upstairs and tested the video monitor.  We fiddled with the heat upstairs and downstairs till 11:30 or so.. and around 11:55 Stanley whined so much that we had to let him upstairs.  It was quite an exciting night for us, watching the monitor, waiting, listening, creeping around on the creaky floors, but probably just another night for Evy.

It is funny how this blog is called the Good Times Book, and yet, there are some not so good times that might make it onto these pages.  For example, last night she had her first stuffy nose and she couldn't breathe so we used saline and got the boogers out.  So that's a scary moment that evolved into a good thing.  And on December 16th Evy Roo survived her first car accident.   It was an emotional week of stitches and insurance companies, and rental cars, and hospital bills... and the doctor said she was fine, so that's a good thing.  And on Jan 2nd Evy was fitted for her severe hip displagia and the harness made her cry.  But an hour later she was smiling again, and taking it all in one moment at a time.

These are certainly good times.. her strength makes me rethink how I spend my days.  I mean, if she can wear a brace for 3 months I can certainly exercise for 3 months, or give up booze for 3 months, or do anything for 3 months with a smile on my face.  I mean, she can't walk, (she's a newborn) she can't move her legs and she can still laugh, and still brighten up our day.  Our good friend's daughter is going to wear a brace for 6 years... and she is an inspiration to me.  The kids are the ones teaching us how to live.  And it's the good times, wrapped in bad news, that are the sweetest gifts.

And in this time of Christmas road trips to Maine and Happy New Year 2014! We thank the powers above for the family we have, and the memories we continue to create.  After the last few months, with Nina's passing and the car accident and the hip brace, we are not taking anything for granted.
